CBD 101: A Few Facts on CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most prevalent components in cannabis. CBD is non-psychoactive and has become a popular therapeutic alternative for managing, treating, and preventing multiple health-related conditions. Furthermore, recent studies have shown promising benefits in various areas of the body.

Although, we could go on for hours about the therapeutic promises with CBD, we do not want to overwhelm you with information overload; want to keep this post very basic for those who are just starting to learn about CBD. So, a few question we encounter the most often at CannaBon and you should know before you start using CBD as a therapeutic alternative:

1. Will you fail a drug test? The easy answer is no but you should know there is some THC present in CBD hemp oil. However, the legal amount of THC in hemp grown and sold is 0.3% or less. One would have to consume considerably high amounts of CBD oil to experience a “high,” or to confirm THC on a drug test. The last thing you should have to worry about when it comes to your health is the fear of punishment.

2. Should I consult my physician before using CBD? You should always consult your doctor before starting any therapeutic regimen. There are little known side effects related to the use of CBD. Although, these are considered minor side effects, we know CBD is known to cause, dry mouth, lower blood pressure, inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism, light-headedness, and drowsiness. One should note, that these side effects have been in relation with high doses of CBD. Even so, CBD is considered to be very safe substance.

3. How should I take CBD? There are numerous methods to administer CBD including; inhalation, topical creams & oils, orally tinctures, edibles, lozenges, beverages and capsules. CBD affects multiple pathways of the body which makes it difficult to study, it's recommended to start CBD with smaller doses and to adjust based on personal needs. However,  various clinical studies reported patients taking up to 700mg a day without experiencing side effects.
